Background and aims – Five new species of Streptocarpus (Gesneriaceae) are described from D.R. Congo in connection with preparing the family treatment for Flore d’Afrique centrale.Methods Standard herbarium practices were applied.Key results malachiticola sp. nov. is related to S. compressus goetzei while bampsii nov., malaissei salesianorum schaijesii michelmorei solenanthus. The differences these discussed distribution maps taxa presented. An identification key all known acaulescent Congo, Rwanda, Burundi provided. conservation status preliminarily assessed. All range-restricted Upper Katanga assessments as follows: malachiticola: EN B1+2ab(iii), bampsii: CR B2ab(iii), malaissei: salesianorum: schaijesii: B2ab(iii). found on metalliferous rocks remaining either epiphytes gallery forests (S. bampsii) or occur humid forests.
